Annatto seeds act as a natural coloring agent. Annatto seeds are popularly used as a color and dye and are mainly used in paint industry, cosmetic industry, food industry, natural fabric industry, and others.
Annatto is the seed or extract of the Achiote tree (which is a tropical tree). The specific red color annatto originates from several carotenoid pigments of these seeds coating. More Bixin (chemical present in the pericarp of seeds), more orange color and more norbixin chemical tilts towards yellow color as a color dye. In addition, some of the other factors due to the ban on trading of products made from artificial chemical ingredients, there has been a steep increase in usage of annatto seeds in the color mix of the textile industry.
